1983 380sl

Recently, my car starting idling around 3500 rpm regardless of being cold or running for a while. Any thoughts on the problem and/or the fix.

High Idle 1983 380SL

As soon as I start the car the idle takes off to around 3500-4000 rpm and will not come down. If I attempt to put the car in gear, it immediately takes off and almost impossible to stop the car. It will not idle down at all.
I let the car set for 24 hours, I attempted to start it again cold, however it immediately idled at 3500 rpm.

your auxiliary air valve is most likely non functioning , search the forum, ,many threads on it .
Also suspect - rule out any air/vacuum leaks , check all lines

Can you tell me where the Auxillary Air Value is located? Also, thank you so much for the quick reply....

Could be simple. If I unplug the two wire connector (blk/yel & blk) on the Idle Control Valve, my idle also shoots way up. Check your connection and integrity of the wires.

At cold start the idle control valve is open. The idle would be high but not this high. More likely it is either the OVP or idle control unit. OVP can be bad or the fuse on top blown. Try twisting the ICU.

Location of the various components can be found in the online manual. Model 107
