1983 380sl Dashboard lights

My dashboard will not illuminate at night. I also notice my light on the passenger-side door comes on when I open it but not the driver's-side door. The fuses all look good along with the lightbulb on the driver's side door; I'm wondering if there is some sort of correlation with one side working and the other not working (lighting up) which is also causing the dashboard not light up when the lights are turned on.

Instrument cluster light problem is usually the rheostat. Try rotated it back and for a hundred times or so. Not joking. The contacts corrode.

Could be the door switch. Try removing it and checking for function.
