1980 450sl window motor
My driver's side window was having issues operating.
I took off the door panel and when testing the window motor there seems to be some play. When putting some resistance on the "8 tooth gear" the gears spin, without the inner plastic gear catching. So it appears to be the motor is not quite catching the plastic gear inside the motor, possibly worn. The gears on the regulator seem fine. The serial number of the window motor is 0-130-820-002, but when doing a search on Ebay for a window motor, it appears that a number of these motors fit the 1980 450sl. I do not want to buy a used motor and have this problem down the road. The 0-130-820-002 is $450 new. I was wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge if other window motors may fit this window? Thanks! |

A closer look at the inner workings of the window motor show extreme wear to the large plastic gear. If I was able to replace that, problem solved.
Anyone ever replace the plastic gear? Like I said I don't want to buy a used one and have the same issue. The previous question also still stands. Thanks |

We're the ones on EBay used or from an aftermarket manufacturer?

Used.
I ended up buying a used one on Ebay, with the ability to return it. So if the gear is in bad shape I will do so. |
