Soft top wind noise
I have a W129 320SL 1996...........I find when using the soft top with the hood up, the wind noise is terrible eminating especially from the aft portion of the window lwhere it meets the soft top. My soft top is completely water proof but the noise is a pain. With the hard top on it is no probs. Any feedback or do all you guys in the states just go around with the hood down?

It's pretty bad, even in the "colonies." While the top on my 2000 SL500 has a liner, it has no padding for sound insulation. The problem is particularly bad when driving into a headwind on a gusty day. And while definitely still audible, the wind noise isn't as bad on a calm day or with tailwind.
Solution???? Get a 2003 SL |

I'd have to say I don't mind the wind noise and I miss the beautiful exhaust roar when the hardtop is on. Maybe you should go ahead and buy that CL....
