R129 91 300SL Cruise Control same as 87 300TD w124?

I checked sticky at the top of thread and didn't see anything on the Cruise Control unit. Does anyone know if that unit is the same on both autos?

1987 300TD w124

The control arm is the same, exactly so I'm guessing but not sure how to tell. I need to get all the manuals available sometime today. I have the owners manual in digital format and it doesn't cover that, just usage.

I wouldn’t bank on anything from a diesel being the same.

Diesel is very different from the gas. Completely different tach and speedo inputs. Gas has versions for 4 cylinder, 6 cylinder, and 8 cylinder.

The later versions have a swappable coding "plug". On those units, the cruise control board is all the same, you just swap over the coding "plug". The '87 will still be vehicle specific.

It's a small world, I tell ya. Not small enough that there seems to be anyone from this forum close by, but that's another story. That car sat for so long and I suspect they tried to sell it many times but nobody wanted a project car. It's been on the road for nearly a year now, done a bit over 8K miles, and has been in DD duty since this spring. When I get some time, and a bit of money budgeted, there will be more updates to that thread.
