front turn signals and parking lights nightmare.

1979 280 sl grey market. the front turn signals added under the front bumper. The shops that made car usa compliant did some really dodgy wiring behind the headlight assembly. I have been cleaning it up for a decade now. IE bare wire just wrapped around stripped wires no covering. Last electrical person marked the wires incorrectly. Did not use a plug but just pushed loose wires into socket.. My parking lights would freeze my flashers when headlights were on i disabled them years ago. A nightmare to trace all those white wires out..Draw a schematic trying to find a short? It all looked good. So whats the hitch?? The socket was etched with the wire colors?? So now down to the bulb. Which wire is for the turn signal? bright filament(turn signal) and the park light is the lower wattage. 28.6 vers 5 watts.. Well the shop wired and marked the socket wrong so the parking light was 28.6 watts and the flasher the lower wattage. Its the other way around.. So now its perfect. So when you have a grey market car made usa compliant dont believe the other persons work and markings, know for sure.. Test the bulb socket for the right filament... And make the correct connections.. only took 10 years... Yesterday I was bored so I just scoped it out for hours and hours, tested every wire for a short.. No short just overloaded by incorrectly wired double filament bulb.. Me happy!!!

stainless wiper blade holder 280sl

Upon seeing the 250 dollar cost for wiper blades in stainless i cleaned and steel wooled my black ones and sprayed them with silver ceramic paint. Yes , I was really bored weather was warmer, so I can play. Hey they look really good.. For now.. Some parts are now very high cost. I just got 4 chromed aluminum center caps for my bunt chrome rims for 200 bucks.. Plastic chrome ones are not to be found.. There are chrome shops that will chrome the aluminum ones but they have to be perfect to chrome.. warm weather now to play..
