Smile Opinions Please...

I can't decide if my '86 560Sl would look better with the chrome wheel lip mouldings . The car is white and I thought the chrome contrast wouuld look better...but I'm not sure.
Any feedback on this trivial matter would be appreciated.
Thanks
Larry

trivial or not, I've considered this option more than one myself!!

Leaning towards the conservative side, I'm considering the thin door edge chrome accent and will probably forgo the wheel well molding... just a matter of taste.

If you have chrome wheels I think the accent would look fine...but then again, I am a fan of chrome!

I am assuming yours is a "fair weather" car. Even with the rubber lip, the trim does not ensure a weatherproof seal. During inclement weather conditions, some debris and moisture can possibly penetrate and hasten corrosion along the perimeter of the fenders.

My W124 apparently had them at one time, as there are telltale holes left behind from their removal by the dealership or PO...I'm still thinking of reinstalling a set one day, as I do have chrome wheels on that car (as I do with all of my MBs).

I guess I'll add a dissenting opinion. I've never liked the chrome wheel mouldings. It always looks cheap to me. I can't explain why.

Don't get me wrong, I like chrome, but the chrome wheel moldings don't look good to me.

I do have the door edge guards, but mine are black, the same color as my car.

Doesn't it have enough chrome already without adding 4 rust-traps?

I don't care for them, but that's just my opinion. I like chrome wheels but the wheel lip mouldings, no. How do they attach to the car? Screws? So you drill holes in the wheel lip moulding to mount them, which allows moisture to be trapped behind them. Moisture equals rust..........................

I agree with G-Benz. Don't do it unless you have chrome rims.

It's funny I saw this post first. An hour ago I was checking out a white BMW 2002 it looked nice but the chrome fender trim made it look tarted up. If your car was black or brown it would probably look sharp with chrome.
