Question Gas Mileage

Can anyone give me a typical gas mileage range for a 560 SL? I just replaced the injectors and the oxygen sensor to get it through NJ inspection, but suspect that the previous owner messed with the mixure control. I'm getting about 12 mpg.

12 mpg is about right for the city, I've seen 560s get anywhere from 9mpg city driving to 17mpg Highway.

When's the last time you changed the air filter? That may help.

Gas Mileage

The air filter is new, as are the plugs. The problem seems to be the mixture setting, which I'm almost positivie was screwed up by the previous owner. Pulled a plug this morning. Lots of carbon deposits on the bottom edge, electrode dark brown. Looks too rich to me.

I usually get around 15-16 in town. A lot of 5-15 mile trips and about half is freeway miles.

I don't know what is typical for 560's, but my 450sl only gets about 12 around town. I got a whopping 14-15 on a recent highway trip. But you know what THEY say, "You don't buy one of these for the gas mileage." Good Luck! BOB

I get about 15 in mixed driving, but should say I spend 70% of th etime on the highway. However, the 30% is spent stuck in traffic goin gback through the Holland Tunnel. That idle time kills me...Maybe it will get better now that I'm in Hoboken (and communiting to Parsippany).
