manuals

I am currently also trying to find a manual for my 1989 420sl. I have just bought a cd on ebay which claims to have the information for all the 107 SL models. I am in England, and it is coming from USA , so ill let you know when it arrives if it has the relevant info, and where to get one. Regards Richard.

I hope you won't be disappointed, but I think it will be the MBUSA manuals which just have the US models - so I don't think your engine will be in there, and there are numerous other differences. However, I hope I'm wrong and you will post to confirm when the CD arrives - because that would mean it should also cover the 300SL! I've been searching for a while without success.

This reply goes to just about EVERYONE!! Manuals can be bought at Chiltons.com at Haynes.com at Amazon.com and directly from MBUSA.com .... DO NOT by the CD's for sale by KlausFlorida that are posted in EBAY!!! These CD's are NOT repair manuals WHATSOEVER. They are simply links and pictures of junk... I have been in contact with this guy and with all those who left NEG feed back!! Fraud is the conclusion.

Marc, I've checked out both Haynes and Chilton and cannot find any manual for a 107 1985 or later - and for any age of 107 I've found nothing on European models. Have I missed something?

And Deltacom, the link you posted points to manuals available from MB and gives their phone 800 number. I don't think the site itself is offering the manuals.

Finally, from my experience, the main content of the CDs mentioned above ($20 on ebay) is PDFs of scanned pages from MB manuals - so I don't imagine thay are better or worse than the paper versions. I think that what they are is ripped-off copies of genuine MB CDs (as sold in the Parts Shop on this site for $150 or so). I agree that they are nothing like a Haynes manual, but remember that the original target for these manuals was not the DIY market (because MB have never offered that).

A lot of the manuals sold on eBay are CD-R copies. There are some legitimate sellers though. Ask for a picture of the CD. That will give it away immediately.

The 107 Service CD is black and looks like a speedometer. But it only has USA versions of the 107.

That still doesn't answer the Euro question.

Thumbs down

i too have stupidly bought the klausflorida cds and have been very dissapointed . any basic search engine will pull out all the information on these. So im still searching for that elusive 420sl techical information. Can anyone confirm that a manual indeed ever existed for this model ,as very few in total were built?
