R107 purchase suggestions

Hi Gang! I am in lust with the R107 body from 1971-1989 and have to have one. I have been told to stay away from the 380sl all together and told that the 450sl will keep my wallet pretty dry with repairs. Can you guys (especially if you have experiences with these models) speak to this "advice" for me? I can find a few 450s and 380s at good prices but the 560 (which I have been told to wait for) is till demanding upwards of $22,000+ here in Virginia and I don't have all of that at the moment.
