SL TO SLD

THATS QUITE A PICTURE I'M HOPING THAT I DON'T HAVE TO GET THAT RADICAL WITH THE HOOD .A SMALL MODIFICATION WOULD BE NICE . ALSO I'M CONCERNED ABOUT WEIGHT IS THE DIESEL HEAVEIER THAN THE V-8

The 78 450Sl had a V8 with an iron block. The diesel is a lot lighter. The suspension should be able to handle the weight. but your transmission is different and of course motor mounts.
Can you do the swap I really don't know

Is this logical?

The R107 280SL had the M110 motor.
The W123 280E had the M110 motor and the W123 300D had the OM617A Turbodiesel motor.
Then if you could find an R107 280SL could you fit the OM617A in there?

Would make one interesting roadster...
