Keyless entry for 1987 560SL, an option?

Does anyone out there know if keyless entry was an option for the 1987 560SLs?

If yes, what is the part number or when can I get it?

thanks in advance

dom chang

To my knowledge the keyless entry was never offered on the W107 SL. There is nothing in the owners manual or in the Service manual about a keyless entry system .

I've got the sales brochure for my '88 560SL and keyless entry was not offered. In fact, there are very few options. I don't have the brochure in front of me, but I want to say that there were only two options. One was heated seats, but I can't remember what the other one was.

Here is an aftermarket keyless entry -- has anyone tried this?

Now that I have the Technical Specifications in front of me, the following options were available in 1988 for the 560SL:

Electrically heated front seats
Front seats with electro-pneumatically adjusted orthopedic backrests (manually operated)
Metallic paint
Metallic paint, two-tone
Paint, standard, two-tone

Keyless entry was not offered in any '88 model Mercedes (USA).

Try This Method

Domchang,

As the others have mentioned, the 560SL never had the option for keyless entry. What I did with my 88 560SL in order to perform this was to install an aftermarket Ungo alarm which gave me the keyless entry feature I desired. You my want to think about going this route. By adding the alarm, you now are able to add additional features that Mercedes at the time could not offer. For instance, my Ungo alarm with the key remote can open my garage door, offer me radar protection for the interior with the top down, automatic door lock and unlock when the car is moving or turned off, adjustable shock sensor, etc. all with a rolling code to foil thiefs. Just another idea you may want to think about.

I have a '78 450SL... does the Ungo system work with the vacuum controlled locks? I'm not sure what the 560SL has, but I just want to double check. Thanks.

Vacuum Lock Question

4NDELIT,

My 88 560SL uses vacuum locks to open and close the doors as well. The Ungo alarm should work with your 78 450SL as well.

Ben
