theft alarm

I have a 1987 560SL I was wondering if this car has a theft deterrent devise of some kind? In the manual it says there is one on this car how do I activate it I appreciate any input.

i found that to activate the alarm, i had to put the key in the bootlock and turn fully to the right, and the opposite to disable it
give it a try

The alarm should be automatically activated when the doors are locked. To set it off, leave a window (or the top) down, lock the doors with a key, then open a door from the inside. Locking and unlocking that same door with the key should turn off the alarm.

I tried that and no alarm came on. How would i activate it

If that doesn't work, then there's something wrong with your alarm. I really don't know a whole lot more about the alarm system, only what I can see in the parts diagram. There's two control units, a switch, a horn, and a bunch of sensors. I don't know how the sensors operate.
