Another Oil Question

Great responses on the Interval post below. Thanks!
One more question, though. Yes, my 2000 SL500 did come with synthetic from the factory (15000 miles on clock now). If organic oil is better, would it be wise to switch??? I've heard that you should stick with what the car started with. True of False?

True, if the car came with synth, then keep on using it. People might have thought you had an older car and wanted to switch to synth from dino oil. High mileage engine have mixed results when doing this.

Since your motor's likely still drum-tight, there should be no issue. Plus, all newer MB's come from the facotry with Mobil1 in them, so keep on using it!

Regards,
- Ryan

Any problems switching from conventional oil to Mobil 1 full synthetic? Would synthetic cling better to the cylinder walls and provide better protection at start-up? I drive my '93 600SL only on nice days - it has less than 18,000 miles. Or am I better off to stay with dino oil?
