560sl
Greetings -
Has anyone completed a suspension upgrade to a 107 chassis? I am looking to firm the handling up just a bit. It seems there is no store that supplies the 107 chassis with a performance suspension. I'm not looking to lower the car or trick it out. I want to keep the stock (and classy) look. It's just the suspension needs a good tightening. I'm looking for shocks, springs, and/or polyurethane bushings. Anybody Anybody? Thank You, Russ 1987 560SL |
I have replaced my shocks with billstein HD's and it made a huge difference. It still has some bodyroll, but it stiffened the car up without ruining the ride.

I spoke to RC Imports about this and there is a kit offered by a company in Germany; it includes springs and is likely about $1000.
However, neither RC, nor anyone they know, offers polyureth. bushings or heavier sway bars for the 107. They too recommended the Bilstein HD shocks and changing the sub-frame mounts as the best bang for the buck. |
Robert..I love my new H4 headlights...a substantial improvement, at very little cost, especially considering the cost of going to Euros.

560Sl Suspension Upgrade
That's for the input fellas. :)
I have already installed the HD Bil. in the front and have KYB in the back. It seems the KYB shocks do not firm up anything. I think I will install the HD Bil. in the back as well. Thanks Russ 1987 560SL |
Timing Chain
I just purchased a 1986 Sl with 129,000 miles from a Mercedes dealer. I cannot find a record of a timing chain replacement. If this is to be done what else needs to be replaced while its being replaced. What is the normal cost

At that price, the lower rails should be included also.
