3M Stongard headlight Tape
hey guys... my brother has a hookup for 3M Stongard headlight protection tape, and he is willing to take orders. I am not sure of the price yet, but he's thinking around 25 for headlights, and probably another 15 for fogs if he can get them. It's 3M, it's UV protected so it won't yellow, and pre-cut so there's no hassle getting the size right. I'm not sure about shipping, but we can sort that out on an individual basis. So far, I've only told him about the 107's with 5-3/4" headlights (like mine and other american models - grey market and euros have the boxy headlights, I haven't asked about those). If there's a big request for the euro ones, I'll see if he can get those too. I would definitley recommend this for anyone who has done the e-code mod (round euro lenses- usually hella or cibie) because it'll save your investment from stonechips and pitting, and everyone knows how much those lenses cost (45 each side for lows, dunno about highs). leave a reply to this thread, PM me, or e-mail me if you're interested.

cool... I was expecting much more of a response, but I'll see what I can do. I think if we get enough people, he might be able to "adjust" the price a little. No word yet on other models or euro (boxy) lenses.

I am thinking about using the tape, but I am concern about overheating the lenses and shortening the bulbs’ life. What do you think?

I would expect some reduction in heat transfer through the glass, but wouldn't expect it to be an issue in any conditions you'd encounter in Vancouver. South Texas, maybe...

unless you've overpowered your bulbs like I have (threw in some 60/100W), I don't think it should be a problem. I'm gonna get a set for myself, and I'm not worried, 3M is a reliable name, and I trust in their technology.

ok guys... I'm still trying to finalize this. As some of you know, I have done the e-code conversion for my low-beams, and I left in the sealed high beams. As it turns out, the Stongard kit for the 107 w/sealed beams is a little different for the euro lenses. Sealed beam tape is cut out for the alignment posts found on US sealed beams. If you have this, then you can get the origional kit. I think I will have to mix and match mine because the euros I have don't have alignment posts, and it will require a different tape. If you are interested, e-mail me or my brother, and be sure to tell us wether you have sealed low and high beams or euro lows and sealed highs, or euro low and highs. So far, I know the sealed low and highs will be 20 shipped in the US. My e-mail is yojimborobert@netscape.net my bro (tim) is tim@thedotcommune.com
