Citric Acid Flush Necessary?
I plan on doing some work to my '88 560 SL to ensure problem free use. One of the "projects" is to clean the cooling system. Would a "standard" cooling system flush at my local garage, along with new anti-freeze, be OK? How important is it to go through the citric acid flush process. I want to do a good job.....no necessarily the absolute best possible job, but good, without introducing any problems.
Any suggestions? .........more specifically, would using a local garage chemical power flush process do any harm,?........describe........and if citric acid is the only logical choice, how much do I need?.......... and what is the proper solution (amount of acid per gallon of water)?

Hi,
I flushed out my system last summer and opted to go the citric acid route. Easy enough process and it seemed to really help. The only hard part was finding a cheap source of the acid. I finally ordered it online from a site that specializes in soap making products - I think it's called chemistrystore.com although I'm sure a search on Google (or Froogle for that matter) would find it. jlc
