Need help running a line from engine comp to inside car!!!
Im trying to get my remote radar installed and this necessitates running a laser sensor to the back and front license plates. After a couple of hours I finally was able to run a line to the back plate, whew this car is built like a tank!!
I cannot, for the life of me, find any access or holes to run a line from the engine compartment to the inside of the car. Anyone have any advice as to where I should be looking??? 1991 500SL Thanx guys. |

I hope I didn't get your hopes up too much by posting, as I haven't had to do anything like that.
I will say that when I removed the gauge cluster a few months back, it seemed like access to the other side of the firewall would be more readily available there. After all, the monitoring sensors that operate the gauges travel along the harness that connects to the cluster.

I'm quite amazed that no one knows where I should start looking. Remembering back when I installed the remote starter/alarm on my 300E I think my best bet might be the fuse box, rather underneath it. I am going to pull it out and see whats behind it after this durn snow goes away.

I just finished rebuilding a portion of the gauge harness on my W124 last night (OEM harness completely disentigrated). Now that that's done and installed, I discovered some other unrelated problems with the senders that are connected, so I am not very enthusiastic about delving in yet another harness issue...

You should look in the car audio section... There are a number of threads about stereo installs, which often require running a wire from the battery to the trunk.
I haven't done this yet myself, but i hope that gives you a direction to look in.

Just FYI for you guys, I pulled the fusebox up in the engine compartment and there is a ridiculously large hole leading right into the driver footwell. Very convenient.
