some of you talk about putting ford crates in a mb how about in a rolls?

Seeing how a MB can be converted to accept a Ford crate motor, does anyone know if this same thing is possible to do with a Rolls Royce Silver Shadow, 70's model, and are there any differences in doing the conversion to the Rolls as there would be if you did it to the MB? just curious. thanks

Given enough money all things are possible. I don't see any reason why one couldn't put a large US V-8 in a Rolls. A 500 cid Cadillac engine and a 700 od tramsmission would make a great conversion. Any engine that would produce 275 to 350+ hp would make a great swap. God knows that there is enough room. From what I have read the original RR automatic transmission was patterened on the GM trans. of the 50-60's, so, unless they have made drastic changes, I would think that the current GM trans. would fit. A V-10 Ford or Viper engine would make a stunning conversion. Imagine a RR with 500 hp. Apparently the new Bently has a twin turbo engine of about 8 liters that takes the car to 60 mph in about 7 secs. And then there is the new 1001 hp Bugatti that will go from 0 to 180 mph in 14 secs. For 2 million a copy it had better go that fast.
