1972 450SL with US bumpers?
A friend of mine is selling his '72 450sl and recently sent me photos of the car as I'm interested in it. I was surprised (and disappointed) to see the huge US bumpers on it, as I am under the impression that the earliest ones had the thin Euro bumpers.
What say you? Is this a sign of a major repair somewhere along the line or worse? Thanks! |

See the pictures at the (current) end of Unthinkable?
That's what a '72 (US) SL should have. Anything else would have been changed later either as a result of not being able to find the correct replacement bumpers or to add some imaginary degree of safety. |

1972 and 1973 450 SL's came with Euro spec bumpers.
