What I paid for R&R + materials
FWIW, in 6/1994 I paid an upholstery shop US $650.00 total for labor and parts to replace a complete R107 top. This was an aftermarket top. Not original MB canvas.

There are plenty of hardtops on ebay. Generally they can be had for $400-$500, sometimes much less. Shipping however is very expensive. (recently I was quoted $800-$1100 from Florida to New Jersey !)
Beware when replacing soft-tops ! There are a couple of good threads on this already. The quality of materials used varies greatly. Not all tops are canvas, and even the ones that are, aren't always the same quality. The windows as well are an area of varying degrees of quality, from thickness to clarity, to flexibility. KHM in Germany seems to provide the closest facsimile to OEM. (as good if not better) I'm not sure if there is a supplier in the US that can provide an equal aftermarket top. If anyone knows of one, let me know.
