86 560SL ABS light stays ON

This problem started when the ABS light would come on very briefly... it would go right back out again, so I didn't sweat it.

Then, and I don't remember anything special happening, all the sudden the ABS light stays on all the time.

After reading here, I replaced the OVP relay that's accessible through the glove box. ABS light still stays on...

What are the things I should do next. Clean front ABS sensors?

Thanks

I had a similiar problem and concur with the above post. My "tone wheels", the things that look like large gears on the back side of the brake discs, were very rusty. The fix was to clean out all the loose and flaking rust from the groves. I used an ice pick to break the rust loose and a very small rat tail file to clean things up. My Dealer wanted $500 just to diagnose the system. The symptom was that the ABS would activate on the very first stop after starting the vehicle. Then the ABS light would come on ( stay on )and after that the brakes would work OK except no ABS activity. I hate rust! Tod

ABS stays on now from start

When the ABS stays on from the very start, ie: upon starting the car (and not moving) doesn't that indicate something...

or could that also be cleaning of the sensors?
