300SL oil pressure gauge
The oil pressure gauge on my 1990 300SL moves up and down when the car is up to temperature and standing still with the engine idling. Is this normal or should it be on a constant reading? When I accelerate it goes up to the top reading.

This is normal.
If you never had an MB before now, be prepared to witness "real-time" dynamic gauge information! No longer will you be placated with gauges with needles that zip over to a "stasis" position once the engine has turned over. Here in the MB world, the gauges actually provide useful information. So your oil pressure gauge should peg upon starting (cold thicker oil) and under normal driving conditions. The needle should dip slightly when idling or under low load conditions. If your needle reads 1 or less, you have a low oil level or low oil pressure condition that needs immediate attention...
