1990 300SL-24v (129) - Roof Leak
I have just acquired a 1990 300sl 24v with 46,000 miles on, rain gets in through the corner where the roof (both hard and soft) m eets winscreen frame and door glass.
I assume the problem is with the rubber seal, Has anybody had any experience with rain ingress, and any practical solutions ? The knock-on effect of this problem is that water is dripping in, and collecting under seat, and coming into contact with electric seat relay control unit, thus corroding unit to a stage where seat movement is intermittent answers on a postcard please ! Check to make sure your "drains" aren't plugged. There are hoses which drain off the water from channels in the roof. The hose fill with debris, get plugged, and the water overflows the "bowl" and then flows out under the seats. With the top down, lift the hinged metal flap which covers the area where the soft top mechansim stores. In there are two holes connected to a Y which goes to a hose which routes out the bottom of the vehicle. Use compressed air to clear the hoses. Do this on both sides. Hope that helps.
