New in the 450SL World
Hello Everyone!
I bought the 76 450 SL ( EURO Model ) in Feb. for my wife But I'm the one who drives her. I just found this site and have picked up a few things just by reading. Has anyone ever heard of a car with the VIN # 10704312012486 ? I don't have the Data card yet but MBZUSA classic was to send me one. It's hard to know what parts will fit the car. Keep up the good stuff. It helps a lot. |

Hello.. the first 3 digits of your particular VIN number is the Chassis #. For the most part, I think any part that deals with the body is the same for all the other 107's. Maybe someone here can help out.

Here she is...Hopefully
Thanks for the help. What throws me is the 043 after the 107. Most parts places start at 044. I'll try and post this picture. If not someone please give me a hint.
Great site, Thanx |

The chart suginami posted works for post-'81 (or so) VINs.
The 043 just means that it's a Euro model. The US 450SL is 107.044. I believe the '12' right after 107043 means that it's an automatic transmission on a left-hand drive vehicle. I think the rest of it is just a sequence number. It will share most of the same parts with the US model. The differences probably include front and rear bumpers, headlights, climate control unit. I'm not terribly familiar with the 450 engine, but most of the parts should be interchangeable, except for internal things like the cams and pistons.
