Does anyone know which Mercedes (models and years) have a center console for cassettes without cup holders?
Any information you can provide will be appreciated.

I have a 1991 300 SL that has a center
console for cassettes and no cup holders.

..is located within the front part of console (sliding cover) and folded in half vertically when not in use. Press down on side tab and it opens up to horizontal position.

97 sl500 triple black

My 95 has the cassette drawers. Personally, i would find the cupholders to be more useful, and will swap out the cassette holders when time permits...

My 99 has the cassette holders and an ashtray. I never thought I'd say this, but cupholders would be more useful. The dealer says they are not available...

JJ I picked up cupholders for my 91 on ebay a while back, I see them on once in a while. The dealer swears the cup holder unit will not fit in the pre 96's, but thats a total lie!! Your best bet it to check ebay or hit up a junkyard and see if you can pull one. They are very easy to install.

I think it is a UK/US thing: cupholders only arrived here a few years ago (you know we don't go for that drive-thru and in-car eating thing in such a big way as you guys--I only want cupholders to store my coffee between buying it at Costa and drinking it in my office). If you've got a part number, that would be cool, though.

JJ I'll take a peek this weekend, but the holder is installed so Im not sure I can get part number off of it.
