I'm considering purchasing the license plate mount bike and ski rack for my 380SL. http://www.bdiracks.com/bdiplate.html

Has anyone tried this system and can you give a report? There do not appear to be any alternatives for carrying a bike with the top down.

It sure is a good idea. The concern I have is if it will make the metal "tin can". ( flex ) with the movement of the bike rack over bumps or through turns. It is a good alternative to installing a receiver type trailer hitch bike rack.

Actually, I'd prefer a receiver hitch but can't find one for an '85 380SL. If anyone knows a source, please post.

If you get the bicycle rack, let me know how you like it. I would love to have a nice rack that didn't hurt my car.
