Broken Sunvisor Tab

Guys, I broke the plastic "tab" on the sunvisor today. Anyway to get a new one? I've called around and everyone states that you have to buy a new visor! Any suggestions?
Thanks!
Mike

I seem to recall seeing the tab available at ************************; you might check the site, and if it's not there try calling. Otherwise, you'll probably need to go the salvage route.

salvage route: Silver Star - Sacramento,CA area.

...if its the tab on the sunvisor itself (vs. receiver on the headliner)- - from memory you will most likely have to replace entire visor

Sun Visor

I am not aware of any known fix for the Sun Visor Tab.

Mine would fall down with the Convt top on but OK with the Hardtop. Just for the heck of it one day I took the visor loose. Pulled it out as if to use it and while it was down I turned the visor portion as far towards the winshield as I could and then lifted it and clipped it back in! I don't know why but it has continued to work for me.

My Son has an 89 and he had to buy the whole visor!

I broke the tab off of my visor about three years ago. Super glue didn't work.
After a year of searching, I found that the only option was to buy the entire visor. Then, of course, you'd have to buy both to insure a color match. Performance Products sells the receiver pieces that go into the top windshield rail.
Finally, I took the broken tab off completely and I used a spring clip from an office store (Staples, Office Max, etc.), you know one of those old fashioned looking black clips that come in different sizes with the two shiny silver tabs that you squeeze together to open the clip. Then I took a piece of wood approximately the size of the broken tab and shaped it like the end of the tab that pushed into the receiver above the windshield ( I did this by using my bench grinder). After I checked to make sure the piece fit snugly into the receiver, I painted it black.
After the paint dried, I pushed the wood piece into the receiver above the windshield. Then, I put the spring clip over the exposed rod in the visor (where the tab used to be) and attached it to the wood piece in the receiver. I was then able to remove the two shiny silver tabs from the spring clip by squeezing the tab ends together. I keep these two tabs in the ashtray in case I need them.
This sounds more difficult than it is. Actually, It took me longer to write this than it did to do the job.

I went to visit the people that manufacture the rear "kinder seats" for Mercedes two weeks ago. In speaking with the owner he mentioned that he was looking to manufacture the visors for a very reasonable price...I seem to recall $50 for a pair. You may want to call or Email to see when they will be available.

Good luck.

Visor

Forget the dealer! I just got quoted $450 for one passenger-side visor. For a fraction of that price, I'll buy my passenger a pair of shades and a compact mirror!

Spin23, Was this the actual tab that went on the sunvisor? If so, how did you get it over the small chrome bar that it attaches to?
Thanks,
Mike

falling sun visors, broken tab

To all concerned: How about some velcro? I used on hard top and convertible and solved most of the headaches! Try (cheap fix) Abe G
