Question Galvanised doors?

I have just removed the door trims on my 82 500 SL and found that when I removed the plastic sheet that protects the door trims from moisture, alot of paint peeled off from underneath.

It looks as though the paint has had poor adheashion to the inner of the door, because of what looks like a galvanise coating. Is this normal? If it is should it have been primed with a different primer to normal?

Any hints or answers appreciated

Thanks

Damian,

Yes, you need a special primer if the matel is galvanized.

The surface is slightly "oily" so normal primer won't do.....
