Older VIN's????

I've seen examples of how to decipher a VIN for newer model MBs on this website.
Can anyone explain or decode an older, 14 digit VIN?

Thumbs up

Example: 107 044 12 005762 (Ludwig, my '72 350SL 5.6)
107 = chassis (model)
044 = US 350SL and 450SL (4.5 liter in either case)
12 = left hand drive, automatic transmission
005762 = serial number

Second set of digits for other sub-models:
024 = 450SLC
025 = 380SLC
043 = 350SL (euro with 3.5 liter engine)
045 = 380SL
048 = 560SL
The way I remember it is that the 02's are four passenger and the 04's are two passenger (German logic).
