Construction Claims Consultant in Hong Kong. Came here for a holiday 8 years ago and now have my own company with 20 employees mostly all Nissan Skyline fanatics....they are real cheap here, ballistic acceleration and only 7,000 euro for a clean car. They all think that my 300SL kerb cruiser is an overweight panzer tank with the performance of an asthmatic ant carrying heavy shopping !

Data Base Administrator, Been in IT 35 years now.

Back in the late 60s how many teenagers were into programming.

Just recently picked up a 90 500SL, 48k mi, Clean as new. Been kinda out of cars for a while.

Gary (Pheonix), the CD with all the manuals is due out (Fingers Crossed) right after the first of the year.

Let's hope I want one too, this things a dream, but it's got a couple of problems.

I am a Software Engineer. Not a dot.com spin off but someone who knows how to code. I just bought 97SL500 with 58K and loving every minute of it. The only sad thing is that I will only have the car for about 2 years because the state of Illinois recommends that you do not attach a baby seat to the roll bar . Oh well when the SL is gone I will have to get a 4door family car. I was thinking M5 with dinan upgrades. Sorry for leaving Mercedes for a BMW but 500hp is my kind of power for under 50K. If I retire at 60 i have 34 years till that day arrives.

Mine actually has a rear sear. I wouldn't want anyone sitting back there. But it has seat belts and I would think a baby seat would work back there, I think the prior owner had it installed for just that.

I'll find the link to the company that makes mine. Their Cust Service was fantastic. I e-mailed them with some questions, remember I already have one, they called me and gave me the info.

Amazing how many guys here work in the IT industry - software and hardware side.

I don't have an SL, but I am in charge of Sales and Marketing for a food company.

Bio

Hello, my name is Lynn. I am a computer hardware, software, and network Systems Engineer living in sunny Southern California (real close to John Wayne's Orange County Airport and Newport Beach).

My academic background consists of a BS degree in Microbiology, minor in Chemistry. With 12 plus years as an Environmental Laboratory Chemist/Microbiologist in Water and Wastewater. 12 plus years in analytical laboratory instrument sales. And these last 5 plus years in Technology as a Pre/Post Sales Support with a Systems Engineer certification from Microsoft.

I'm a native Southern Californian who loves The Lord Jesus Christ, my wife, her two boys, family dog, the beach, and mountains. My hobbies are Snow Skiing (since age 15, National Ski Patrol volunteer), Motorcycling (1986 pristine Suzuki Intruder), Private Pilot (VFR-Cessna172/Piper Dakota fixed gear), Scuba Diving (warm water), Camping and Trout Fishing (whenever possible), Photography (Canon A-1 SLR), Reading, Music (easy listening), Travel (tropical and European), Computer Science and Technology.

I own a silver blue on dark blue top/interior 1989 560SL that I bought in 1999 with 30K miles, tweeters in the door pockets, upgraded dash speakers, 6x9's in the rear, factory Becker cassette that I connect to my portable MP3 player. It currently has 60K miles with new 15" chrome wheels (original style).

Prior to this I had a three year lease on a white on dark brown top/tan interior 1988 560SL, gold package, 16" wheels, with 35K miles. It had an outrageous sound system that consisted of a custom rear seat with 8" or 10" sub-woofer in enclosure, power amplifier, tweeters in the door pockets, upgraded dash speakers, Sony radio and trunk CD changer. This, at least $3K, sound system was outrageously fun, powerful, and clear to the ear when diving 65 MPH+ and the top down.

CAR HISTORY: '52 4dr Ford, '59 2dr Ford, '62 2dr Chevy Impala, '54 2dr Chevy sedan, '54 3dr Chevy sedan delivery, '66 BSA Ligthning, '74 Datsun 240Z, '75 Datsun 280Z (best of all cars, owned for 10 years), '82 Nissan Turbo 280ZX 2+2, multiple other Taurus/Sable type business cars to boring to mention.

Surprised at so few business owners here. We own a medium sized body shop in Western Pa. and bought our first Benz after getting a late 80's S class in to repair. The engineering and build quality caused me to vow to get one of those for myself one day. We're working on our 4th, 5th and 6th right now and still love them as much as the first one. Have never bought a wrecked one to fix up for myself either, as all but the TE have been Starmarked from the dealer. Pete

PJG56,
Are those AMG Monoblocks? Those are exactly the kind of wheels I want on my '95 as well. What size are they? Please let me know.

They are a 17" AMG wannabe. Can't remember the brand right now, but I got them from Needtospeed, so he could probably give you the particulars. They are a staggered setup as you can see and I just love the look.

I see your partial to Smoked silver/Parchment color combo. That is my favorite also. My 95E320 cabriolet is the same combo. I would love to attach a photo but I am a computer Moron. Thanks for the pics, great car. Happy driving.

I have learned a ton about the computer from this forum. Just ask about anything and someone will have the answer. Ken Silver instructed me how to post pics in a larger format that still fall under the sites' guidelines. Love it. Pete

for the last 13 years i've own a small manufacturing company. we make hardware and accessories for the valve industry using cnc machines. we also do custom machining for some locals.

bought our 1st benz in nov '01. 1972 350sl red w/blk interior. 1972 was the year we were married and that particular car the 72 sl was my wife's favorite car. in 72 i couldn't afford that car or any benz. now i can and i do. when it does come out of the garage my wife drives and i get to sit back relax and see her having fun.

I've worked in General Motors dealerships for 26 years, both as a tech and in parts sales. My friends laugh when I tell them that GM failures have financed my Mercedes purchases.
