2002 SL600 phone system digital? If so, usable in other R129s?

I was wondering if the last version of the phone systems for the r129 line was digital. If so, could I say order a 2002 SL600 phone system and do some work to modify the phone system in my newly acquired 1996 SL600?

I remember reading in this forum that a guy was replacing his phone system with a digital one, but I did not see a follow up.

Nope, not hardly, would require a 98 or newer radio system at the very least. The 98 and newer are fiber optics, the 96 doesn't have that. It'd be alot more work than it's worth.
