driveshaft alignement
I am thinking of buying an 88 560SL, when checking it out from below it seemed to me that the drivesahft (connected to the rear end through a rubber thingy) was misaligned by a few (5 -10) degrees. Is that normal or should I walk away?

Misaligned how?
An 88 will have myriad concerns - unless it's been kept up by a fanatic. I take it you have used the search feature to find all the common problems? best, Dave 87 560SL |

As you look from behind you can tell that the driveshaft is not exactly perpendicular to the rear axle but slightly to the left.
And yes, I've been reading about the 560 "challenges" (see, I am politically correct!) particularly timing chain & rail guide issues. This forum is fantastic and I have accumulated a lot of web pages in all kinds of things I feel much more confident now that this car could be a lot of fun. I just need a lot of help with info. I am OK as a DIY but nothing substitutes knowledge and experience. Dave, thanks a lot for your interest Joselu |
