An odd problem which I had for a week a few years back, and which just happened again for three days last week. Now OK....
The symptoms are that that the starter motor does not turn. The first time this happened, I found by pure accident that adjusting the steering wheel upwards (electrically) cured the problem. By this I mean that if I keep the ignition key turned, and adjust the wheel upwards, the engine starts. I can then adjust the wheel back down. Sounds like some sort of loose contact somewhere. I have done 22k miles from new, with no accidents, not even a parking bump. Ideas on what I can look at? When I took it over to the MB garage while the problem was there a few days ago, I could not reproduce it, no matter what the position of the steering column. Momo |

You have a faulty ignition switch. We have replaced many for problems of this nature.
