96 sl 320 oil in intake
Folks,
I found oil in my intake about a month ago, so I cleaned it out. It is there again. I can see oil is coming from the breather tube to the intake manifold and then to the throttle body under the butterfly valve. What would cause this? It is not just a little residue. Is there some device in the manifold that restricts the oil? otherwise it would go directly into the throttle body? is it hooked up wrong? Please help. Thanks and have a great day. Regards, Brian |

Normal for 2.8/3.2/3.6l OM104 engines. The throttle plenum is the lowest point and crankcase vapor oil accumulates there. It will drip down out of the rubber pipes as well.

Thanks Dr. Diesel! I really appreciate it. I replaced my front main seal on Saturday and I was surprised at how easy it was, I thought I would have to take the whole front of the engine apart. But as I type I have no oil leaks! which is a first for that car since I got it 3 months ago. The seal was $13.40 cents at the dealer, and it took 9 hours to replace. But mostly because I clean everything up really nice before I put it back together. Thanks again and I hope you are well!
