Buying a SL out side of Calif.

Anyone know what the regs. are for bringing a car in to Calif. from another state, and also, is rust something I need to be concerned about when the car comes from a four season climate?
The vehicle in question is a '99 with 47K.
Thanks

I am sure the car you mentioned should pass smog test and then as far as I know all you have to do is payup at DMV for taxes and registration. I brought two in to CA about four years ago.

I believe every current model from mercedes is 50 state legal. I'm not sure if that applys to a 99.

California used to collect a fee of a few hundred dollars on all cars coming in from out of state but a couple years ago the federal government made them stop doing it and also made them refund the fees previously collected.
