I think I can here freon traveling

I've read a few of the members expressing their concerns with the sl500 airconditioning system malfunctions. I have a 1994 sl500 with 88,000 and I have no way of knowing if the two previous owners did any major work to the system or any other part of the car for that matter. when the airconditioning is on, I can here the freon travel through or what it appears to be. I want to know if anybody has experienced the same sounds, or if there is an explanation for this occurrence. I want to be alert and prepared, to prevent any major repairs if posible. By the way, this a great site, am glad I found you guys. Thank You. PEP

it's normal to be able to listen carefully and hear the refrigerantt (freon) boiling in the evaporator
