107 jump seat

I got a price quote from www.jjproducts.net for the rear jump seat for my 1972 450SL in Blue MB Tex:

<>

Is this a good price and does anyone have experience with JJ Products Inc quality?

Looks like it's around the going rate for a new one...

Please let us know how this works out, take some pictures, show the seat belts, etc. I've been thinking about getting one of those for a while...

best,

Dave

Erubin,

I know Jim Bocchini (JJProducts) personally and can vouch for his products and service 100%. In fact he is the first to develop the Jump seat for the US market several years ago.

Ihave the folding model in the back of my 380 SL and am very happy with it.

Good luck.

Thanks to all for your advise. I will let you know how it goes when i jump into this one.

I'm also thinking about upgrading the front seat shoulder straps. Mine are not on a reel because the car is from1972. you have to manually adjust them and then you are locked in and cannot lean forward. I want to upgrade to the more modern style which is retractable. I've heard that the retaractable ones on 450SLs and 380SLs are bothersome. Any comments?

I have problems with my driver side seat belt retracting in cold weather. Sometimes it will just lock and I can't budge it. After the car warms up and the heater is on the seatbelt will release. This does not happen to me during the warm summer months.

I don't know if this is usual for all 380SL owners, but it is what I experience with mine.

I have the same exact problem on my '85 380. I'm going to have to open up and take a look. Happened on the passenger side once as well.

Seems like all mechanisms requiring lubricant/grease have dried up and are having issues....especially in the cold. Door handles/locks, antenna and seat belt retractors.

When this problem initially happened my driverside seat belt was stuck for a while and I thought that it was totally broken. I took it to a Mercedes Service Center where they told me it needed to be replaced and that they would be glad to charge me a couple hundred of dollars to do the work. I took the car back to think about it and then they started working again.

I haven't opened them up yet to check on lubrication as the problem only happens a couple of times a year when it is really cold out. I may have to look at it later this summer when I have more time to work on my car.
