As the only New Zealander here...

... I'd just like to go slightly off topic and modestly bring to the SL forum's attention the grand sweep of 11-something Oscars for 'Lord of the Rings' last night.

Please don't email your congratulations to me - I won't have time to answer them!

As I think I've mentioned before, I saw my mate Peter (we're all on first name terms in this country, being so small - even though we haven't met), in a rather scruffy looking new Mercedes sedan some years back.

I will now write him and suggest that a R230 should be more in keeping with his recent success, though how he will drive it in bare feet remains to be seen.

I'd thank you for your collective contribution to the larger culture, but Billy Crystal said that everyone in New Zealand had already been thanked by the latter stages of the show

SL--Anything else is just a Mercedes.
(Kudos to whoever said it first)

Not quite - my wife was out at the time.
