Took my front spring pads out!
Front end was sitting a little higher than I thought was socially acceptable so thought I would look at the upper spring pads and see just how thick they were. Turns out they were at least a half inch thick. Took them out and they lowered the car at least an inch to make it a perfect height, in my opinion. Not getting any squeaking or unusual noises, so will just check the alignment and drive it.

how did you remove the spring pads ?
could you please post the details. is it easily done without the special tools or is it best to take it to a mechanic ?

I did it on a twin post lift but the tools you need are nothing special other than a 14 mm allen wrench for one bolt. I've never had to use a spring compressor for any Benz spring. I'll take pics and post the next time I do one.

Take the car up and support the wheel. Take out the strut bolts and sway bar bolts. VERY slowly take the car up till all pressure is off the spring. You can then get a big pry bar in and pry the spring out. I usually use a floor jack on the bottom of the lower control arm to reverse the procedure.
Of course you need to take your caliper off and hang it off the body somewhere to avoid ripping the hose off. This can be a nasty experience if you are not mechanically inclined, but I think it is a simple job and can usually change a spring in an hour or less.
