1977 450SL for sale
Hey all,
For those of you who have been following my debacle in the Open Discussion forum, I've decided to sell my 450SL and keep the TR6 and my MGB. I'm around MBs all day long, every day so I've decided to keep my Brits so as to have something different for my own enjoyment. So, here is some information on my 450SL... It's been a member of our family since it was BRAND NEW. It was purchased at Geller Imports in Akron, Ohio on February 14th, 1977. It is DB568 Signal Red with Black MB-Tex interior and matching Signal Red hardtop (soft top is black). We have lovingly kept and maintained it for the last 27 years but now it is time for her to find a new home. In recent times, I have done the following work on it: MECHANICAL: -New timing chain, tensioner, rails -New rear springs and shocks -New front subframe, ENTIRE front end rebuilt as well as new control arms, shocks, springs, etc.... -Complete brake job, front and rear -New steering box -Major service (all fluids and filters changed) -New belts -New brake flex hoses -New MB battery -Four new Michelin Energy MXV4 tires BODY: -Last year, we stripped the paint back to bare metal and refinished the entire car in its original DB568 Glasurit Signal Red paintwork. -Before we put it back together after the paint, I replaced EACH and EVERY rubber seal/gasket with brand new items. Basically, this car is in excellent condition. I have just about every service record on this car since it's PDI service in 1977. Mileage is around 175K (forgive me, I haven't seen the car since I put it in storage last fall). It runs excellent, does not use a drop of oil and everything on the car is in proper working condition (vacuum locks, A/C, heat, Becker Mexico signal seeking radio, automatic antenna, power windows, etc..). It still wears its original steel wheels with the painted hubcaps. I've been considering a swap to the old style alloys but decided to keep it 100% original. I will throw in a set of four good alloys though to the buyer of this car. In addition, before sale, I will complete another major service for the new owner and will sort anything that may have developed while it has sat in storage. It will be ready to go and will need absolutely nothing. You may e-mail me for pictures. The car is stored in Akron, Ohio but I am planning on bringing it down here to Cincinnati within the next month, unless it is sold before then. Asking price is $12,000.
