What is your location....I have some rims that I am having power coated...silver....they were chrome but flaking...Power coating is a very hard paint after baked at 500 degrees in a oven...Jim

Lynn, if the car is still for sale, and your current rims are in good condition, I would suggest that you leave them alone. Generally, originality is a selling point in a vintage or special interest car. It's unlikely that you be able to recoup the expense of both new wheels and tires at sale time.

BUNDT RIMS

You should be able to buy a set of Bundt Rims(4) for 100 and shipping...14 inch. Let me know if you are interested...shipping from Indiana will be about 68 dollars....But you might find some closer and save the shipping charges....Jim

"Bundt" rims were the alloy rims found on all SL's from the mid-70's through 1985. So named for their similarity to a bundt cake mold. Essentially, these are the wheels that were installed on your SL at the factory.

Bundt rims may also be called "Convoluted" rims.

BTW, I've found FedEX Ground to be the cheapest when shipping wheels.

Question I liked your orginal wheels!

Hey RickM, I just wanted to say that I loved your original spoked wheels and wondered where I might get a set like that for my 1984 380SL.

If anyone can help me out, I would be grateful. I am definitely looking for the more vintage look for this gold car.

Many Thanks,

Duncan
