Many thanks to LEAUK for posting a great thread, my newly acquired 92 500SL was doing the same erratic wippering of the windshield, took the relay apart, sprayed it with electric contact cleaner and now it works to perfection. That's what I like about this Forum. Best in the WWW.

K26 Location

Actually, it is exactly where Lea showed it in his pictures. It doesn't matter whether it is left or right hand drive. I have had mine apart and cleaned it. It is not difficult as long as you are careful and a little handy.

Unfortunately, my problem turned out to be in the K10/2 control module, which I had to replace at $450 USD. Pretty steep for getting back my intermitent speed wipers!

Oops. I could be wrong about location. Oh well, glad you are out of the woods on that one.

See picture two. If your car is LHD it will be on the opposite side. You can't miss it as it's the biggest black module box in the fuse compartment ;-)

Glad you sorted your wipers too - BTW mine are still working flawlessly

I have a 1992. What relays control the running lights and headlights?
