Visor clip removal.

Hello everyone.

I've searched the boards and no one has had this problem yet. I've already bought and decided to change the swiveling arm covers for the sunvisor, however, I can't seem to find an easy way to remove the circle clip (see photo.) I've tried a small nail, micro-flat screwdriver to no avail.

If anyone has a good way of removing it without damaging the surrounding area, please post it here for all to benefit. By the way, the covers cost about $18 USD each and you'll need the VIN to get the correct color for your car.

HI

I had to do the exact same to mine around a month or so ago, the offside broke exactly the same as yours!

To remove the spy clips you need a small flat blade screw driver and simply and gently prize each spy clip 'prong' up. They do come off after a little time - trust me.

To re-fit, find use a small circular metal tube with the same diameter as the small flat inside the spy clip and tap them back down. However, I just used a nut runner!

It can be done, but a little patience is required.

Thanks, Learoy.

They finally came off and now I can get Dieter back to looking good.

I don't know why MB couldn't have made it simpler by using a lock washer or a nylon ring with a cotter pin. I almost mangled the plastic bracket trying to get this clip off.

Oh no, there's a real easy way to do this. See, you take the new bracket cover and a pair of wire cutters............

bracket cover

Where did you get the bracket covers at? Is there a parts web site that you can order them from? Thanks Dairel

I got them from a MB parts dealer: F & J European Parts, Houston, TX (713) 773-0887. They specialize in MB parts. Or else you can go to the MB stealer.

BTW - I forgot to mention that your dealer's ripping you off if they were $18 each!! Now - I though I came from a country that specialised in monopoly and rip off - I paid 3.50UKP each for mine and direct from my local dealer

I feel good about that - thanks...

I know what you mean: only in America. However, I forgot to mention that I bought them from F & J for about $8 each vs. $18 from the "stealer."
