Remove gear shift assy?

I need to check the S16/3 starter lockout/transmission range switch for operation as my car occasionally fails to start and I wonder how difficult it is to remove the wooden panelling surrounding the gear shift area?

It looks like a nightmare so if someone has some tips I'd much appreciate.

Thanks
Lea

Dont' quote me on this - but I would say that the starter lock out switch is accessed from below, not by removing the console.

Hi

uhm, one picture I have shows it from below but refers to it as a S16/1 the other shows access from the top and references a S16/3 - I think I have a S16/3 although I'm not 100%.

The difference is that the /3 is a 'starter lock out & transmission range switch', the /1 only starter lockout...

any ideas?

Lea
