humm...third brake light mystery

Have a 1991 300SL and the third brake light does not work. Fuse is OK, installed a new bulb (just one), and made sure it was pluged in. Nothing. Any idea where to look for the gremelin now?

Check the wire at the bend. The wire breaks inside the little rubber gromment and needs to be replaced. Get some flexible wire and patch it and you will be good as new! This is a very common problem.
