Will be handing a pristine, low-mileage 82 300D over to a woman in Little Rock this spring- does anyone know of a small independent Mercedes shop that they use and trust? Thanks.

Anyone?

Does anyone in Arkansas own an older Mercedes and have it serviced by a reputable mechanic? Anyone....?

mb shop

German Auto Tech in West Memphis. 870-735-5906. Ask for Ditmar, or Michael, his son. Specializes in older, diesel Benzes. Honest, reliable, and dedicated. Do call for an appointment as they seem to have all the work they can get to. They take care of my '80 300SD as if it were their own.

Thanks!

Thanks for the reference- thought I was out of luck there for awhile. I knew there had to be a great Merc shop somewhere down there.

Will follow up with them.

Cheers,

JAS

Pleasant Valley Automotive

I hesitate to recommend anyone without personal experience with their work, and I have never had anyone work on any of my cars. But you haven't had much luck, it seems, so I'll give a second-hand recommendation.

I bought my '83 300cd from a fellow in west Little Rock. It was (is) in impeccable condition mechanically. He used the local dealer mostly (Riverside Motors) along with a local shop, Pleasant Valley Automotive at 1905 Hinson Loop Road, 501-227-0619. Pleasant Valley replaced engine mounts, oil cooler lines, glow plugs, hand fuel pump, and such. Prices were reasonable, with very fair parts pricing. They also did his lube, oil, and filter changes. ASE certified technicians, according to the invoices, and apparently familiar with these diesels. Wish all my cars had been as well maintained before I got them.

VeggiePup-

Thanks for the info- I was really beginning to think I was s.o.l. as far as finding a decent repair shop- the 82 is moving to Little rock later this summer, and now I at least have a reference to where it can be serviced appropriately. Thanks again,

-JAS

MB mechanic in NW Arkansas

I use Shuler ******** in Fayetteville. They have been a MB specialist (not officially w/ MB) for over 40 years.

They do good work, and labor is $50-55. Prices are decent too, and they have genuine MB parts, and usually remans.

Have a good one.

Thought I'd see if anyone has any more suggestions- STILL looking for a good M-B indy in the Little Rock or Conway, Arkansas area.

Yes, this post is YEARS old!

Any recommendations appreciated!

Thanks,

JAS

Did you ever find anybody around that area? and/or does someone know of any shops in NW Arkansas? I may travel around or near there, would be nice to know before hand in case a mechanic is needed.

i live in searcy, and have a 85 300D. i went to riverside and was treated like crap. so can say dont go to them. i wish i could find a good place to have my car worked on, but i think the only place available is German Auto Tech. their prices were reasonable, ($80 for a valve adjustment) and they sounded like they knew what they were doing.

jas2wa where in arkansas are you? anywhere close to searcy/little rock?

jas2wa 04-05-2006 03:24 PM

Hey-

I'm actually in Virginia, but I'm trying to find a place to have a friend's car serviced- she's in Little Rock, works in Conway. There is NOBODY in LR who can properly service her 82 300D. I simply can't believe this is true. She's having issues that anyone with diesel M-B experience should be able to fix over the phone, for cryin' out loud!

It is interesting- the most durable, reliable car ever made, but if there's nobody to keep it properly sorted, it gets to be a hassle really fast. And she loves the car, does not want to consider parting with it. She just needs a good 123 mechanic.

All thoughts appreciated!

JAS

Best MB Diesel Shop In Arkansas-- Bar None

German Auto Tech, in West Memphis. If your friend can take a day off, she can get anything she needs from Ditmar and his son, Michael. I suggest an early-morning appointment. 870-735-5966.

Good MB Shops in AR

Shuler ******** in Fayetteville has been referred already but just wanted to confirm they are great (bought my 84 300SD there 8 years ago.). European Motors in Pine Bluff (35 miles S of LR) is great. Pete Boehm, from Germany, been working on Mercedes for 40 years, factory trained in Germany. Gruff manner sometimes and the place looks like a dump but the work is quality, the prices are fair and he's honest. Just did my motor mounts and some other misc maintenance, total bill $250. he's forgotten more about Mercs than most ever knew!
