The only thing that has Jan (of Jan's German Automotive on Groveland St. in Venice Fl 941-488-8543)stumped, is why my 300D keeps loosing its harmonic balancer...seeing as the reason for this has eluded everyone here also, I feel quite confident in his ability to service MB's along with some very other nice cars that I have seen in his shop, and have had a chance to drool over (very carefully drooled over :) ) Like the Ducati Bugatti sp? with its very impressive V12 etc. & a few other exotic and semi exotic cars (Pantera)
Jan (pronounced Yan) has been in this country for 3 or 4 years now, prior to his arrival here, he worked for Mercedes in Germany. As you might expect, his shop is clean and organized, and he doesn't do the "throw parts at the car until it works again" routine....he'd rather diagnose till the cows come home, and fix it that way.
Also he has been looking for a mechanic for quite some time now, but these seem to be hard to find around here...at least the competent kind anyway. He offered a position to my self (I am after all a Landsmann, just with an "Ami" name) but the restaurant biz is keeping me fed well so far. :D
(sorry if its a lengthy post, but I suppose it indicates my enthusiam for the guy!)
