Good Shop in Charlotte!!

I just moved to Charlotte and am looking for a good mechanic in Charlotte - I looked up and found 2
1) Auto Werks
2) Charlotte Star Service

Are they recommendable or you suggest someone else ..
I need some tuning done and a major job of a heater core :(

Thanks in advance..

I used the Goose Creek Auto Werks last week for the first time. The owners were friendly and the mechanic was competent. But they are expensive. Maybe it's just Mercedes. Anyway, for non-specific problems I use my regular mechanic in Monroe. No problem with going back to Goose Creek if I had to.

I've used the Charlotte Star Service for normal fluid changes. Nothing major as yet. As will all MB service, they are not cheap, but do good work and deliver when promised.

An absolutely GREAT MB shop in Charolette is MBV European, Ltd. where the term imports refer to American cars as some of the mechanics are German born and raised. The service is fantastic and the atmosphere is more along the lines of "Cheers" where everyone knows your name.

Due to either mis-communication on my part or the owner of this establishment I must now remove my praise for MBV European. I no longer would commit any of my vehicles to their care.

A Good Indy in Charlotte area and some other newbies

Hi, I have a 1997 SL 500 and just recently had some repairs done on her, e.g. pwr steering pump R&R, transmission service, and Oil service. It was done at Uptown Imports. I thought the work was done fast and professionally and at a fair price. Ask for Dennis and/or Paul, they co-own the shop. www.uptownimportsnc.com

I have noticed this shop, no 1st hand experience with them. MB Mercedes BMW in Hunterville, NC. www.garmanmercedesbmw.com

had a great experience at MBV European ltd
i was faced with spending $3000 from the 2 dealers for a repair on my 2003 c230. mbv examined the car and found it to be a broken vacuum hose repaired for $180 they could have charged me 3k and i would not have been any the wiser these guys are great and honest
they have my vote from now on

MBV European in Charlotte performed excellent service

I brought my 1997 C230 to these gentleman on March 12th. Very good experience. All work completed same day. The only thing they couldn't diagnose was a vacuum leak that I currently have in the HVAC system. I do plan to have them take a look at it in the future as for now it is truly intermittent but it involves a very loud whistle occurring when the floor vents are engaged. To be fair, I ran the car about 40 miles after the service, cycling through different air conditioning and heat controls and I couldn't get the sound to occur. I believe they are more than capable of handling a job like this but would have needed to spend more time than I had for them to fix it.

I bought the car in July 2007 and I decided it was time to do a baseline fluid change on the majority of the fluids. Here are the jobs and charge breakdown.

1) Oil and Filter $ 42.84
2) Brake Fluid Flush $ 74.89
3) Coolant Flush $129.78
4) Transmission Flush $281.96
5) Cabin Air Filter Change $ 80.28
6) Wheel Balance $ 29.95
7) Fuel Filter Replacement $91.49

Total Job $776.11

Labor rate is about $90 an hour generally in many Charlotte shops. Many folks can do most of this maintenance themselves and save quite a bit of money, but those of you who can't or don't, at least this gives you an idea of what you can expect to pay.

They location is easy to get to off of South Boulevard and Tyvola. The shop is clean, the guys are friendly, the work was professional. They kept in touch throughout the day and I would recommend them.

I had a very unsatisfactory experience at Auto Verks and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.
