Does anyone know European Transmissions
 

and parts Oak St. Cumming GA?? I've read the web page and I was wanting any kudos and complaints of the place.

I don't know that one. The shop I use sends theirs out to, or exchanges them at, TBR in Atlanta. I have had two complete rebuilds over the years that came from there and I have been quite satisfied. (TBR stands for Transmissions by Ron)

I think TBR only performs the bench work. Meaning they won't Remove & Reinstall.

Correct on TBR, plus they will not sell to the general public.
Also, if you are looking to update/modify/bolster your transmissions performance you'll find they are not very accommodating...which was our inspiration behind doing our own boxes.

TBR will not, Euro trans does not have the supplies to do so.

Do you know if they rebuild transmissions in house?

Two years ago I had a automatic trans done for my 88 528e. It's a non-electronic transmission so once rebuilt you don't have to reset the adaptation codes in the trans computer. I removed it and took it to European Transmission in Cummings Ga. They took it out of my trunk and said it would by done in a couple of days. They didn't even want to hear what was wrong with it. Three days later, I went to pick it up. The trans looked good and clean so I went to pay and they said they only take cash or money order. It never said that in their website. Luckly for me I got a money order from a nearby bank. After paying, a helper loaded it in my trunk and I ask the guy if they ran it on a dyno like their website stated. He just looked at me like I was speaking another language and said have a nice day. I put in the transmission and serviced it properly (Years ago I worked at a BMW dealership so I'm familiar with this task). Afetr running through the gears at low speed with no load (rear end in the air) I took it for a ride. It went for about two blocks before the trans ate itself. After calling them they said they would pick the car up and fix it. After three days, I removed the trans and took it to them. After a couple of days I picked it up again for no charge and they told me they didn't know what happened but the clutches were wiped out. I put it in and drove it and it worked fine except ocassionally it wouldn't shift into what I'd call overdrive. I took it to them they drove it and said it felt ok. They put on their lift and said everything looked good. Two months later ocassionally when I'd come to a light the trans would downshift and lock up once stoped and not move. It progressively got worse until I pulled it out and gave it back to them. They went back through it for free and told me that the fourth gear clutch was wiped out. Once I got it back, I decided to put it in the corner of the garage and got one from a rollover car in the junkyard. With 350K miles on the clock of this car the junkyard trans works just fine. I'm still looking for a dependable trans mechanic for the future if anyone knows of one. I'm not saying they're terrible, but I didn't have the best experience with them.

Yes, I've used European Transmissions. I have a 722.605 (early electronic) which I removed and took to them to rebuild 6 months ago. They do the rebuild themselves, it took a few days. I decided I'd rather have them put it in, which they did. They have a Star diag system, they also updated the software on the transmission computer (ETC). No problems, they did a good job at a very reasonable price.

In my research, TBR seemed less flexible, i.e. I was told that if I had a valve body rebuild, they would not credit that toward a full rebuild. I ended up doing the full rebuild anyway, so it didn't matter in my case.

If you plan on removing the transmission yourself, I'd advise reconsidering. The factory manual isn't great. I should have made some notes and posted them. One thing I do remember: I had a hard time getting it out after it's disconnected and unbolted. If I remember correctly, you have to pry the torque converter away from the drive shaft with the transmission in place. If you don't, the transmission will just hang on the torque converter. They included a new torque converter as part of the rebuild, so don't worry about damaging it.
